FREE Laurel VEC In-Person Exam Session FREE for all applicants

FREE amateur radio license exams for all levels of license (Technician Class, General Class, and Amateur Extra Class). You may take more than one test at the session.

The FCC charges a Congress-mandated license fee of $35 for amateur radio licenses. You will pay this fee directly to the FCC after you pass your tests with us. As always, we do not charge for our tests.

Pre-registration is recommended for this test session. Walk-ins are welcome.

You will be contacted via the email you use to register for the session. We'll email you a reminder approximately one week before your test.

Location: Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center Auditorium 109 Bee St Charleston, SC 29401

Park on the west side of the VA Medical Center. Enter through the West Entrance and follow the signs for the ham radio test session to the Auditorium. Please arrive inside the testing room by 12:55 PM. No time limit.

Please bring with you the following things:

• Government-issued photo ID

• A simple calculator with the memory cleared if you wish to use one (optional, but note that cell phones, tablets, and smart watches may not be used during the test)

• Your FRN
