Please make sure you have the following before heading out:

FCC Registration Number (FRN): Must be obtained prior to testing.
Government-issued Photo ID: Required for all applicants.
Proof of License (if upgrading): Bring any CSCEs not already recorded with the FCC.

If you don’t have an FRN, go to the FCC CORES website and register: http://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do Additional information:

Testing is free.

The exam is multiple-choice:

Technician: 35 questions, 26 correct to pass (74%)
General: 35 questions, 26 correct to pass (74%)
Extra: 50 questions, 37 correct to pass (74%)

Upon successful completion, a Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) will be issued and forwarded to the FCC. Once processed and the $35 FCC application fee is paid, your license and call sign will appear in the FCC database.
